Spring at Blackwood Lane

Transformation, Renewal and Rebirth

In the last few weeks, as February flows into March, the snow has slowly melted, giving way to the lush green vernal surroundings that make Blackwood Lane Winery so lovely. Truth be told, every season at Blackwood Lane is special no matter the weather. The natural beauty that envelopes the winery, much like the wine itself, is constantly evolving. Indeed, the best wine in the world, like nature, is alive, dynamic and perfect. Blackwood Lane owner, Carlos Lee, can attest to the fact that when it comes to wine perfection, one must let nature take its course.

Seasons of Love at Blackwood Lane

But back to the weather! Like I was saying, there really is no bad season at Blackwood Lane. Visit the winery when it’s raining, and the experience is contemplative, warm and relaxing–like curling up with a good book on a cold drizzly day. Come by when it’s snowing, and the winery transforms into a winter wonderland.

Divine Wine

And now, during the nascence of Spring, there is a sense of renewal and revival all about. Again, it’s analogous to wine, as wine is all about transformation, about changing from one state to another. From grape to bottle, there is a constant and continuous transformative process that is lovingly guided by the benevolent hands of the vintner, whose sole purpose is to oversee the process. It’s reminiscent of a line by Romantic poet, William Blake, who referred to the condition of Man as “God’s in slow arising.” I feel Blake’s passage applies to Carlos Lee’s approach to winemaking. His wines are always in a steady and consistent arising, persistently reaching greater heights of perfection. Anyone who has tasted his wines knows that it’s heavenly – divine.

Family, Friends and World-Class Wine

I realize that perhaps all this talk about renewal and transformation must be because Easter is just around the corner! And whether you celebrate the holiday or not, it’s a season of rebirth and transformation that everyone can relate to. It’s a time to surround yourself with family and friends, a time of good food, and, of course, great wine!

Blackwood Lane IS the Message

If you’re planning on hosting a dinner party over the Easter holidays, I’d recommend accompanying your fabulous dinner with Blackwood Lane wines! Not only will Carlos’ handmade wines pair exquisitely with your Easter feast, the mere presence of his wine on your dinner table sends a definitive message. What do I mean? Perhaps famed linguist, Marshall McLuhan, explained it best: “the medium is the message.” In short, when you share Blackwood Lane wine with your friends and family the message is that you only want the best for them! I mean, if you’re going to spend the whole day cooking your heart out, it really doesn’t make sense to pair your culinary creations with anything but the very best!

Easter Bunny Wishes

Make this Spring special. Embrace the singular joy of imbibing world-class wine, made by hand, with love. If you’re lucky, the Easter Bunny will forego the chocolate eggs and hide some bottles of Blackwood Lane for you to find!
